Engagement in the face of Exhaustion: Rallying Staff During the Pandemic

Presented on December 14, 2021 at 2:00PM-3:00PM ET

When the pandemic began, there were hopes it would be over in a few short months.  Here we are nearly two years later. Long hours. Staffing shortages. An endless stream of patients in need of assistance. COVID-19 has taken a toll on the mental and physical health of all who come in contact with it – including health care workers.  In the face of such burnout- how can communicators keep staff engaged and doing their best to help patients and each other? Rhonda Mann, VP of Marketing and Communications at Tufts Medical Center in Boston talks about some of the tactics that have made a difference during this long, unprecedented time.

Presented by:

Rhonda Mann, Vice President Marketing & Communications at Tufts Medical Center

Rhonda Mann is a strategic writer and storyteller with more than 30-years experience in health care communications. She began her career as a television news director and medical journalist in New Hampshire, Maine and eventually at WCVB-TV in Boston, where she served as executive producer and an on-air reporter for HealthBeat, the station’s award-winning medical desk, working under national ABC News medical editor, Dr. Timothy Johnson.  In 2007, she was hired by Harvard teaching hospital Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center (BIDMC) to begin a consumer-focused marketing program.
